Our Philosophy

Practical skills taught by working artisans.

Our workshops are not theoretical lectures. You will be seated at a professional workbench, handling real studio equipment from the first hour. We believe the only way to understand glass is to score it, break it, and bind it yourself.

Classes are kept deliberately small—capped at four students per session—ensuring you receive dedicated attention when mastering challenging techniques like precision cutting and smooth soldering.

Curriculum

Structured learning for every capability.

Whether you have never held a glass cutter or you are looking to refine your lead came techniques, we offer robust, hands-on programs designed to produce tangible results.

The Workflow

From rough sketch to luminous glass.

Our workshops demystify the creation process by breaking it down into distinct, manageable stages. Here is what a typical project entails.

01

Patterning & Glass Selection

Begin by drafting a cut-ready pattern. You will learn how to anticipate difficult breaks and select appropriate textures and colors from our extensive studio glass library to achieve the best light transmission.

02

Scoring & Breaking

The foundational skill. We teach proper ergonomic cutter grips, consistent pressure scoring, and clean breaking techniques using grozing pliers, ensuring pieces fit your pattern precisely.

03

Foil or Lead Assembly

Depending on your course, you will either meticulously wrap each glass piece in adhesive copper tape or cut and bend lead came channels to build the structural matrix of your panel.

04

Soldering & Finishing

Apply flux and wield a hot iron to melt lead/tin solder across the joints, creating strong, smooth structural seams. Finally, clean the panel and apply patinas to darken the metal work for a professional finish.
